Long Day’s Journey Into Night is Eugene O’Neill’s exploration of his own family members: their dreams, their failures, their addictions, and the past that binds them inextricably together.
Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Eugene O’Neill’s autobiographical play, takes place on a single day in the life of the Tyrone family, over the course of which the mother relapses into morphine addiction and the youngest son is diagnosed with tuberculosis. As they struggle to come to grips with these developments, the family members confront each other with blistering revelations about the past and its power to pull them apart and bind them together.
Long Day’s Journey Into Night is this year’s Irish Players’ entry into the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival, which will take place in April in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland.
