A final celebration and reading of scripts written during the 48 Hour Play Plate-Off challenge. There will be no feedback, just lots of applause. Readers will be chosen on the spot from those willing in the audience. More information about the 48 Hour Play Plate-Off challenge below: Inspired by 48 Hour Play Festivals and Paula Vogel’s Bake-Offs, Nickel Flour hosts its first 48 Hour Play Plate-Off. On Thursday, November 10 at 7:00 PM EST, playwrights will gather on Zoom to receive the ingredients to write their “Plate Plays” within 48 hours. (Can't make the Zoom? No worries! We will send out a recap email to everyone registered, after the meeting.) The ingredient menu given during the Zoom will be laid out like a Rochester Plate menu. Choice of meat, choice of 2 sides, choice of toppings, bonus side of buttered bread. Choose how you like your plate and find out which script ingredients you've been assigned! Then it's time to write! Rules: 1. Plays must be written within the 48 hours allotted. 2. No rewriting. You are free to do that once the festival is over. Allow yourself to keep writing freely. 3. Let the play be as long as it wants to be at this moment. Your script could be 5 pages. It could be 120 pages. If your script falls outside of that range - that’s ok too! 4. Playwrights may be located anywhere. If there are time restraints for the reading slots during the cold-read-marathon, preference may be given to local (Rochester, NY) playwrights. Scripts are due Saturday, November 12 at 7:00 PM EST (once 48 hours are up). At 7:01, Nickel Flour will start to assign reading slots to scripts that want to participate in the cold-read-marathon.
