Sun, Feb 23 – 7:30 PM
A short documentary and jazz from Paradigm Shift will transfix audiences to an era of jazz and exploration.
Venture back in time to a thriving jazz community known for its musical innovation. Starting in the 1930s through the early 1970s, Clarissa St was the spot where African American artistry and nightlife met. All were welcome and appreciated the flare and appeal that Rochester's Broadway had on the locals as well as visiting artists like George Benson and Stevie Wonder.
On Sunday, Feb 23, audiences will be transmuted to an era of excitement and expectation. Tina Chapman Dacosta's short film Remembering The Pythodd will relay more of the experiences of and feelings of what would become known as Clarissa St. Following the film, Paradigm Shift will get toes clapping and fingers snapping to jazz that made night life on Clarissa St famous. A discussion will follow about the importance of Clarissa St to the Rochester Community.
