BIODANCE Bricolage
An intimate program of mixed repertory by the artists of BIODANCE
BIODANCE and its artists will present mixed repertory including a solo for Wynton Rice choreographed by Solange Rodrigues; a duet created and performed by Nanako Horikawa Mandrino and Natalia Lisina; a solo created and performed by Andrew Evans; a group dance by Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp; a solo for Donetta Tchoroleev by Missy Pfohl Smith with projection by W. Michelle Harris; and excerpts of group work, also choreographed by Missy Pfohl Smith. All creative and performing artists are members of BIODANCE.
Choreographer, performer and collaborative artist, Missy Pfohl Smith directs the Program of Dance and Movement and the Institute for the Performing Arts at University of Rochester and is artistic director for the collaborative company, BIODANCE, based in Rochester, NY. She enjoys creating site specific work such as three acclaimed full-evening length shows Anomaly, Labyrinth and The Fragile Corridor crafted for a 4 story planetarium in collaboration with media artist W. Michelle Harris, dancers, composers and musicians. Her choreography, performance and teaching has spanned across the US and internationally, most recently in Greece, Finland, Scotland and Germany.
BIODANCE is a contemporary dance and collaborative arts company based in Rochester, NY. The work of BIODANCE has toured internationally and has been called "Gorgeous...astonishing...exceptional" and "a brilliantly crafted world of beauty, melody and calmness." The company collaborates with multi-disciplinary artists and organizations such as W. Michelle Harris, Cordancia Chamber Orchestra, Dave Rivello Ensemble, Eastman Percussion Ensemble, as well as performing the work of recognized choreographers including Missy Pfohl Smith, Heidi Latsky, Bill Evans, D.
