About The Event
Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare’s earliest tragedy, is a tale of war, betrayal, and revenge. Titus, revered general of the Roman army, has won a decisive battle over Rome’s enemies, the Goths. But, rather than bringing peace, victory serves only to galvanize the various factions who vie for power and reprisal. As events spiral out of control, political schemes and violent deeds lead to outrageous consequences.
Often misunderstood and maligned due to its graphic nature, Titus exposes governmental corruption, explores injustices of gender and race, and cautions about the perils of misguided loyalty. As such, it speaks to the human condition, perhaps now more than ever.
Titus is a work of fiction, though any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely intentional.
