“dark phrases of womanhood, of never havin’ been a girl . . .” begins For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, a revealing and thought provoking theatrical production, written by Ntozake Shange. It will be presented by the North Star Players, directed by David Shakes, at the Multi-Use Community Cultural Center (the MuCCC), 142 Atlantic Avenue, Rochester, New York, October 15 – 20, 2018. Performances will be at 7:30 pm, October 15 – 19th and 4:00 pm on October 20th.
Colored Girls has had an impact since its inception in 1974. With passion and without fear, Shange’s words reveal what it means to be of color and female. The New York Times stated “Extraordinary and wonderful . . . Ntozake Shange writes with such exquisite care and beauty that anyone can relate to it.”
