The three companies presenting work in the show “Let’s Get Physical (Theatre)” offer this 3-day devising workshop.

In order to make this workshop accessible, we’ve opted to offer a sliding scale. By paying higher on the scale, you not only provide additional support for our work but also allow others to register at a lower price. Thank you for your support!

Open to adults ages 18+ with any level of experience  The goal of this workshop is to have a dedicated ensemble who can work together for the full three days, building material, rapport, and trust within the group. This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn various devising exercises and techniques from three different long-time physical theatre practitioners and creators: Katherine Marino, Ashley Jones, and Jon Froehlich (Infinite Spark Theatre Co). Each teacher will facilitate one of the three workshop days, sharing their unique creative methods and offering a buffet of various exercises all geared toward creating brand new, original performance works. 

Techniques offered in this workshop will likely include elements of weight sharing/partnering, clown, movement improvisation, prop work, and viewpoints.  What does “devising physical theatre” mean?

 Physical theater is a type of performance that uses movement to tell a story. Devised theatre, also known as collective creation, is a method of theatre-making where a performing ensemble creates the script or performance score through collaborative, often improvisatory exercises.  

This workshop is a great opportunity for actors, writers, dancers, directors, and performers of all kinds, as well as the curious and playful from all walks of life.  Open to adults ages 18+ with any level of experience
