Conor McPherson’s most recent drama is moving, funny, and mysterious.

"A play that flutters between the dramatic and comedic realms, The Night Alive is a play that explores the lives of a few lost souls...and a chance connection that may change their lives. Tommy is a man who has been drifting through life for the past two years after becoming estranged from his family.

He lives in his uncle’s house, making ends meet through whatever crackpot schemes him and his friend Doc can concoct. When he saves a young prostitute named Aimee, Tommy begins to feel a glimmer of hope that he can make something of his life. All of that may end, however, as a man from Aimee’s past makes an unwelcome appearance…. .

From the author of The Weir and The Seafarer comes the stunning Irish drama the Chicago Tribune calls 'raw and beautiful.'" (stageagent.com)

The Rochester Community Players (RCP) is the oldest community theatre in New York State. The Rochester Community Players Irish Program was founded in 1997 by Peter Scribner.

The program presents one play each spring of Irish or Irish-American playwrights. Since 2003 until the pandemic, we have taken our annual production ‘on the road’ to the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival (AIITF), several times winning top awards. In recent years, our Irish Program has performed in Florida, Chicago, and Milwaukee, as well as in Canada in Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal and in Dublin, Ireland. In 2008, we hosted the AIITF in Rochester, and hosted again in 2018.
