HANDS is a tender, achingly honest one-act play that follows Gabrielle and Alicia, two Black queer women whose love story begins in adolescence within a conservative Georgia Baptist community. The narrative weaves across three timelines—2005, 2008, and the present—as the pair reunites years later for a funeral that forces buried secrets and unresolved family tensions to the surface.

Through intimate dialogue and raw emotion, the play explores the cost of hiding one’s identity under the weight of religious and familial surveillance, and the endurance of a love that persists across time, distance, and consequence. It is a powerful meditation on memory, forgiveness, and the quiet strength of choosing oneself.
